Suntiva is seeking a Business Development Director to lead and win new business pursuits within the Department of Defense.  This Director will report to the Vice President, Defense.  The position will be located in Falls Church, Virginia.  

What You Will Be Doing

The Director will be responsible for driving Suntiva DoD business development strategy, developing new business opportunities, and increasing and expanding our existing business footprint DoD-wide. Areas of focus include digital, workforce and business process transformation solutions and services within the United States Army and Other Defense Agencies (i.e. DISA, Combatant Commands, etc.).


Responsibilities include:

  • Executing a collaborative plan for identifying, qualifying, tracking, developing and closing high-value business opportunities in the DoD;
  • Selling digital transformation solutions and services including IT governance and management, data analytics, systems engineering, operations and modernization, cybersecurity, agile acquisition, implementation and quality assurance, software architecture and code assessment;
  • Selling workforce transformation solutions and services including workforce readiness and alignment, workforce and leadership development, workforce engagement, change readiness and enablement, workforce analytics, business process improvement, and IT workforce transformation;
  • Selling business process solutions and services including business process strategy, process redesign and optimization; business process maturity assessment;
  • Acquisition lifecycle and contract support; customized acquisition process and development training;
  • Leading the development and execution of winning strategies, including strategic win themes, marketing campaigns and call plans, customer analysis, competitive analysis, solution gap analysis, and the recruiting and selection of teaming partners;
  • Understanding and capitalizing on core client needs – vision, mission, strategy, pain points and critical needs;
  • Making convincing and timely decisions related to each opportunity, including organizing and focusing the capture team resources, determining strategies, teaming and solution alternatives, and managing customer relationships;
  • Driving and/or supporting the preparation of technical proposals and requests for information;
  • Promoting corporate positioning and key differentiators with potential customers and partners;
  • Defining and developing price-to-win strategies;
  • Working closely with core offering teams to establish winning technical solutions; and
  • Building strong relationships across internal and external contacts (e.g., customer leadership, internal SMEs, PMs, capture team, internal leadership, BD/PMs/leadership for other contractors, industry-related organizations such as AFCEA, etc).

What You Need For This Position

  • Demonstrated success selling in the (DoD) full and open market and/or small business market;
  • Proven ability to sell professional services and solutions;
  • Successful history of increasing annual revenue through generation of leads, both by leveraging major contract vehicles and through net new account expansion;
  • Ability to develop, cultivate and leverage strong relationships across internal and external contacts;
  • Proven capability to enter into new markets with minimal past performance by translating qualifications from different services;
  • Ability to successfully balance external focus on customer relationships with internal requirements for reporting/scheduling;
  • Familiarity with forming NDAs and teaming agreements;
  • Experience articulating customer needs and developing strategies to address;
  • Proven ability to use market research tools (e.g. Salesforce, GovWin, etc);
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations to customers; and
  • Proven ability to develop and manage account and call plans;

If You Have This, It Is A Plus

  • MBA or MS degree;
  • Proficiency in SalesForce, or similar pipeline management and CRM tools a plus; and
  • Proven track record of having won multiple vehicle types- IDIQ, GWAC, Single Award.
